Make your best pitch for a sports internship

Gentlemen (and ladies). If you're looking for a sports-related internship, it's time to start your engines. The Texas Motor Speedway is recruiting for a public relations/media relations internship for this fall in Fort Worth. Interns may write news releases, update the Texas Motor Speedway media guide, maintain the media contact list and help execute other PR/media events. This is an unpaid internship and will require working some weekends. Interested students should send a cover letter and resume to: Texas Motor Speedway, Attn: Media Relations, P.O. Box 500, Fort Worth, TX 76101.

The Houston Astros baseball team is searching for several fall semester interns. They involve a wide range of JMC-related skills. For instance, the ballpark entertainment/production intern will record, tape and dub highlight clips from Astros games. This intern will operate video cameras and must know how to use Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Photoshop software. The media relations intern will deal with the media, including collecting media clips, and must be proficient in Word, Excel and either PageMaker or InDesign software. There's also a special events/conference center internship that would be ideal for Ad/PR majors interested in sports marketing or event planning. Visit the Houston Astros website for more information.
